Bulldog man and Deer Woman? |
Lead | |
|
I have heard myths and legends about a Bulldog man in Sand Springs and a Deer Woman in Mohawk Park. Has anybody else heard about these stories, or is my leg
being pulled?

I've heard of both but never found much substance to either story, of course. And, I haven't heard enough to be able to tell any stories of them,
myself.

I haven't heard of the Deer Woman either.
May the forces of evil become confused on their way to your house.

Deer Woman is an American Indian creature, as I've heard of her.
Here's the info on Wikipedia: Deer Woman, sometimes also known as Deer Lady, is a shape-shifting woman in Native American mythology, in and around Oklahoma, The Western United States and The Pacific Northwest. She allegedly appears at various times as an old woman, or a young maiden, or a deer. Some descriptions assign her a human female upper body and the lower body of a white-tailed deer. The Deer Woman is said to sometimes be seen as a beautiful woman just off the trail or behind a bush, calling to men to come over. Deer Woman is often said to have all the features of a normal young woman save for her feet which are shaped like deer hooves and her brown deer's eyes. Men who are lured into her presence often notice too late that she is not a natural woman and are then stomped to death. The Deer Woman is similar in nature to several other female figures of folklore from other regions such as La Llorona from Mexico and the Southwestern United States, The Colombian creatures La Patasola and the Tunda and the Iara of Brazil, and the Xana from Asturias (Spain). All are females who at times, function as sirens leading men to their death. This physical deformity marking an otherwise perfect women is a common theme among legendary siren figures. Deer woman has hooves for feet, La Patasola and the Tunda have deformed feet and La llorona is often said to have no feet by those who see her. The Iara on the other hand is a fish woman with a blow hole in her neck. Deer Woman was featured as a character in an episode of the Showtime horror series Masters of Horror. It originally aired in North America on December 9, 2005 and was directed by John Landis. |

No problem - I remember that one because it used to put
this hilarious picture in my mind of a woman going Psst, commere ... and then stomping the s**t out of someone. |

mohawk deer women | ||
|
I've heard stories of the deer women from a number of people who live around mohawk park. Every one of the people say that she's seen usually at dusk
in the nature trails in just the way that the previous post states. Just off of the trails. The description that I've been given, though, wouldn't be
mistaken for a normal woman as she supposedly has small horns. Of course, this could be an exaggeration.
I'll talk to Jasper about her when I see him again. He's an older fellow who lives in the area and has told me a number of stories about the park and golf course there. He and his friends use to "hang out" there when they were kids. |

I had a chieldhood encounter with Bulldogman in the late '60s. As a kid what year it was wasn't important so I don't recall exactly.
I friend of mine and I were playing in the Ray Brown park West of the Charles Page High School late in the evening near dark. There is a large storm-water drain pipe (about 7 feet in diameter) located at the bottom of the vally floor just North of forth street. At that time the drain pipe was open and you could go all the way to the Arkansas river through it, I had followed it many times and you could come up at several places in town south of that starting point. The light down by the creek was very poor as the sun had already set. We were on the swings that faced to the East when Lynn yelled, "Billdogman!". I looked in the direction of the opening of the pipe where we saw a hunchbacked figure on two legs run out of the opening and head up the creek to the North at a very fast pace. As he ran he transistioned between two legged running and all fours as he went out of sight. It scared the daylights out of us and we ran all the way to my house that was at 7th and Garfield. The next day, it must have been during the weekend or summer break, I went back and looked around. Now you have to put the time in history to work for you here as there were several Western TV shows on at that time period and I'd seen lots of indians look for tracks, so being part Shawnee the thing for me to do was track that puppy down. After searching the area where we had seen him I came across a very strange set of prints that were longer than my hand, I was born in '62 and I'm not sure what year it was but as I remember the print was pretty big. It was as wide as the distance across my hand at the widest point of my palm not counting the thumb. There were pronounced dog-like claws at the leading edge with pad marks that matched up with them with the typical question mark shape of the outside edge of a human foot print connected to a pronounced heel behind them at the end. I was so convienced that I had busted Bulldogman that I dragged my mom (God rest her sole) down there to show her. She brought a Brownie camera with her and she took a shot or two of the mark. I have no idea what happened to the pictures as our house burned to the ground a few years later. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. I've told many people about it over the years with the typical, "Yah, sure.." responce and it's kind of a joke in the family. But I remember the event very clearly to this day. |

There is. According to google it's 45 miles west of Tulsa on highway 51. It's doesn't look like it's very big.
I've never heard of Satans house. But then again I was going to say that my SIL doesn't live in OK.

I think Jim Thorp the Olympic great was from there. He was a Native American that won several Gold Medals. Yale is also know for it's speed traps by OSU
students.
